An energy audit consists of inspection, survey and analysis of energy performance of a building. It is a process to reduce the amount of energy input into the building without negatively affecting the output(s). Typical energy audit involves taking the measurements and identifying the characteristics of building envelope including walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, windows and doors. As a next step energy assessor has to determine the resistance to a heat flow (R-value) of all those elements as well as assess the energy efficiency and level of control of building systems (water and space heating, ventilation, air conditioning etc).
BER Cert Services can carry out an energy audit in order to identify cost effective ways to improve your dwelling comfort and energy efficiency. Our energy audit involves a survey similar to this described in ‘BER Certificates’ section. Using Dwelling Energy Assessment Procedure (DEAP) our BER assessor calculates a current rating of the house. Subsequently he prepares a detailed improvement list indicating proposed measures and its impact on your current rating. The list will help you to prioritize improvements with low cost and high impact on your house energy efficiency.
